Norton AntiVirus 2004 Gets Into Public Beta
Sun Jul 6
story.news.yahoo.com

Symantec unveiled a public beta of the next edition of its Norton AntiVirus guardian Wednesday, allowing users who enter their e-mail address and answer a few questions to download the not-quite-ready anti-virus software.

Norton AntiVirus 2004 includes several new features, including the ability to sniff out ad-generating 'spyware' on systems.

The public beta runs on Windows 98 (news - web sites) and later, and expires 30 days after installation. It cannot be installed on systems which also sport Norton's Internet Security or Personal Firewall products.

The beta registration page can be found on the Symantec Web site.

Norton AntiVirus 2004 will release later this summer, said Symantec.
