I would love to see them pull the Gov Subsidy, but I think BBC is just too powerful for this to happen.

The timing is wrong, since the BBC's contract doesn't come up for renewal until 2006


If the politicians are serious about revenge:

What you'll see in about six months is political talk about a "reorganized" or " slimmed own" or "modernized" Beeb "more in synch with the new world of of the internet and new vast numbers of private news sources" , etc.

Such a new, "reinvented" Beeb "won't need the vast funding it has had in the past."
