check your local mom & pop shops to see if there are any USED DELL laptops..used, not refurbished. There are several places here that specialize in laptops. I am in Austin, home of UT and DELL, so there may be more available here<g>

I've found that you will pay a premium for the new gear, but few people need those 2.5 gig processors. XP pro and Office can be added but you'll no doubt pay 400$ to add both in the aftermarket

We used to have a DELL Factory Outlet here that was a great place to buy stuff. You only save 10-15% buying refurbs
