Cannot stimulate investment? Then why do we have the beginnings of a new bull market? The fact is, a lot of the losses did not not involve excess capacity, but the burning of money by the new breed of high tech entrepreneurs. We are in the middle of a jobless recovery, partially because productivity outstripped growth, but partially because there has not been enough investment to replace the businesses that grew directly or indirectly due to the previous bubble. Inventories are not that backed up, due to creative financing schemes, especially for consumer durables, like cars. We need new business ventures, or the capacity to grow among established firms, to create new jobs, along with the stimulation of consumption.......
