Here is the exact Quote:

<As Debeers had long known, and as the Russians were quickly learning, a gold mine was worth millions. But a diamond mine was worth billions. Finding one was the greatest treasure of all time.>

whom I gather must have been on cocaine when he wrote the above

Actually that plus Barren Lands have been among the most exciting and interesting books I have ever read

Diamond mines are very hard to find but extremely valuable once found

You are right about YMU- I still have all my shares. All I can say is that it was a pretty good speculative bet (based simply on geological knowledge) and management was smart enough to turf the property when they realized that it did not work out. That bodes well for the management and that is what I bet on. I still have all the shares I ever purchased in YMU at an average of $0.79 if it is any consolation. Wanna buy them?

I'll drop the diamond sh!t- I seem to have a problem expressing myself these day ;)

PS the coke reference was totally off base- I apologize. Perhaps reading many of the other threads here on SI has perverted my mind <bg>.

Hey, I used to rent an apartment off an artful coke dealer. what did I care where they money came from? I tried to talk him into buying loads of Diamet. He said he would see a judge who had sprung him from the hoosegow on the deal, They thought is was just another scam. Went on a dust binge and by the time he woke up he had missed several million. Would have destroyed his nose anyway.

(sigh)..

If the stocks are climbing, I lose all inhibitions and taste.
