Iran cargo ship visits port in North Korea, Seoul aide says

Intelligence sources here said yesterday that a large Iranian cargo ship presumed to be a military equipment transport ship recently entered a North Korean Yellow Sea port. The revelation comes as concerns mount about North Korean arms trade, especially with Iran. This is the first Iranian ship to call at a North Korean port in a year.

An intelligence official said the ship arrived last week at Haeju harbor and is still docked there. Haeju is about 120 kilometers (75 miles) northwest of Seoul.....

U.S. to move 'striker' force to Hawaii for N Korea

TOKYO — The United States is set to relocate to Pearl Harbor a "striker brigade" consisting of an aircraft carrier, advanced transport aircraft and other strategic resources for rapid forward deployment to deal with North Korean threats and terrorist moves in East Asia, visiting Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle said Tuesday.

In an interview with Kyodo News, Lingle also said a U.S. general has told her Japan has promised to send 1,000 Self-Defense Forces (SDF) troops to Iraq after the Diet enacts a bill to deploy SDF personnel to the war-torn country to help its reconstruction.....
