I think the worst travesty about these new nukes are the lies told about the technology.

Cheney has been particularly active in trying to confuse the difference between deep subsurface tests and and a bomb that has penetrated a few tens of feet below the ground. These new bombs will throw huge amounts of newly irradiated soil in the air. I grew up close enough to Los Alamos prior to the test ban to remember the endless messages on the radio to not eat snow on those rare winter days when it did snow. They didn't even want the kids to put together snowmen for all the fallout. Next, I suppose, Junior will want to bring back polio.
