spirit-

if you'll recall, the way bush got so many votes
was by pretending to be compassionate and pretending
to adopt a conservative democratic platform. jeckle didn't
become hyde until he lowered his arm at his inauguration.
i fell for the pretense and almost voted for a fourth
party candidate, thinking bush and gore were the
same candidate and that i might be able to stand dubya
if he really did all the stuff he said he stood for...
he even pretended to be an environmentalist.

it got him enough votes to get close enough to win
through the supreme court, but he did a 180 on almost
his entire campaign platform the day after he was
sworn in.

i don't think this country is looking for a combat
hero for president, either legitimate OR phoney - i
think they're looking for a CEO with diplomatic skills
who respects the original founder's ideas of what america
is about - someone who will govern without secrecy and with
open participation and input by the citizens - someone who
knows that 90 percent of america's top businesses are
international in scope... depending on customers, partnerships
and investors from the entire world - and that if we
don't play fairly and responsibly with them - they'll
avoid us like a plague. that's the kind of candidate we
voted for last time but it turned out that he was just
pretending. no more pretenders!! - we might even be
checking resumes for qualifications and references
before voting this time.

dean's resume is fine by me... kerry's a senator. i
like him fine... but senators can't win elections -
people won't vote for them because they fear they've
already been bought and paid for by special interests,
corporate money and political favors. look at the past
ten presidents. how many senators or congressmen do you
see? how many governors?

however, i still promise to vote for whoever wins the
demo nod... i know you don't believe me yet, but dean's
the most electable of the bunch... the primaries will
tell.
