If you remember the original alias used by a poster, you have always been able to find them through People Search. This was a feature installed to make sure that running feuds could continue through alias changes, many posters have changed an alias to escape association with past events. Some alias changes are simply a reflection of the changing perceptions of the poster, in either case it is likely an effect of how the data is stored vs how it is labelled for display.

Here is another alias change, see if you can figure out what is intended, go to People Search and type in "alex d"
