The reason that you may not concur with Arianna and me about polls being bunkum is your location. You may be blessed by not being inundated, as we are in the States, with endless discussions of poll results in lieu of policy discussion or the presentation of actual facts that might be of use to the electorate here.

There is a saturation of stupidity to the poll obsession in the U.S. It's a technique of the Ministry of Propaganda to create a herd instinct and control the populace, rather than the more elegant sorts of things you discuss. You seem to live in a rather more ideal country than I do. Here polls are a dirty tool of a dirty trade.

As you well understand from your discussion of the manipulation of the blinkered public with terms like 'quota' and 'affirmative action'.

The point is, polls have come to replace thinking in much of the American media. And we need to raise some consciousness and some hell about this travesty and lie.
