Very interesting. I am not following Medion as an investment vehicle closely and didn't know they were going to expand to the US market. But I like Medion as a consumer. They have lined up with the most aggressive German discounter Aldi (a kind of Wal-Mart) and sell PC systems twice a year. It started about five years ago, every time those PCs are offered there are long queues of people at Aldi stores all across Germany. I purchased one in November 2001 and was very satisfied with the price/performance. My sister purchased one half a year ago and also likes it - this particular model is the quietest PC I have ever experienced. Medion has introduced a new kind of air conditioning: there is a metal plate on the left side with a diameter of about 12" around which the hot air is flowing. Due to the big diameter the fan needs much less rounds per minute and can hardly be heard. Here's a review with some pictures:

Medion isn't as tightly focused on PC systems as Dell, they also offer other consumer electronics. Thus I doubt they will get close to Dell but their business model is similar and the profitability should be better than HP or other PC manufacturers.
