Ideally, the media would cover issues and ideas and make the elections less a matter of the "horse race" mentality. But I realize this is an impossible dream with the completely corrupt and craven media we have today. The best we can hope for is to educate ourselves via the Internet or however the folks who are dumb enough to believe the President get a clue about anything.

That in a nutshell is the corruption. Instead of presenting a debate of the issues in the U.S. media, they saturate the weak-minded with all this blather about polls in order to elicit the herd reaction.
