Chip designer ARM's Q2 profit falls 60 pct

LONDON, July 22 (Reuters) - British chip designer ARM Holdings Plc (London:ARM.L - News) posted a 60 percent fall in second quarter profits on Tuesday, slightly better than expectations, and said it expected lower activity levels to persist in the second half.

ARM, which develops and licenses designs for low-power chips used in mobile phones and other devices, said pre-tax profts for the three months ended June 30 was 6.6 million pounds ($10.5 million) on revenues of 31.4 million pounds.

Analysts had forecast second quarter profits of around six million.
