A few observations: total market volume today was not impressive, indicates large scale dumping by mutuals is not yet underway.
The Nasdaq looks a little stronger than the Dow and OEX:
finance.yahoo.com^IXIC&d=c&k=c1&c=^spx,^dji&a=v&p=s&t=5d&l=on&z=l&q=c
And interestingly enough:
1 Dow stock closed higher today
10 out of 100 COMPX stocks
55 out of 500 S & P
390 out of the Russell 2000
87 of the S & P Small Cap 600
and 60 of 200 Internet sector stocks closed higher today.
The after hours selloff of JNPR on good earnings and sympathy dip by CSCO shows a definite sell on the news inclination.. but they did that to YHOO too.. and their earnings, I thought were good. So a lot of this looks to me like earnings jitters profit taking.. but not by the big boys.. not yet.
The NAZ didn't even trade 2 billion shares today.
