The only question about debt, be it consumer or corporate, is the real net amount.

How much of this debt is new, vs just a refinancing of old debt? It seems to me that any debtor would take advantage of current favorable rates and replace old high interest rate debt with lower rates. If that is true, how many of these charts are distorted?
