At this point, I do believe that we have lost more than we have gained.

We may disagree on that one, but don't try that POV on the Iraqis who are now free from that monster.

But I HAVE evaluated the overall situation and have come to the conclusion that the ends do not justify the means

So you have concluded that the ends - Iraqi democracy - do not justify the means - eliminating Ba'athists from office and declaring the start of Iraqi democracy now?

Well, that's your prerogative. I disagree. Obtaining democracy for the Iraqis, which above all means building institutions of government that are not run by thugs for thugs, as they were under Saddam, seems a pretty big end to me.

Sorry you had to wait so long for this ShiloCat. But apparently I wasn't clear in my "assignment":

You have given me someone's view of three "possible" outcomes for the Iraq invasion:
Message 19100314

More simply, the assignment was to propose a solution to the post 9/11 "fears" of the President (and most of the country) that would address the "fear" while avoiding the "quagmire" of which you complain.
