Whitewater was about nothing but character assassination of a very successful president by the right-wing. It was a purely partisan and behind the scenes that was admitted. The right-wing was basically willing to do anything to tar Clinton, even if they had to completely abuse their right to assign special prosecutor. 70 million and two years turned up nothing. Not a single shred of evidence of any kind. But they were able to use Whitewater as a backdoor to pry into Clinton's sex life then set him up to lie about it. Monica had nothing to do with Whitewater but they went for it anyway. The lies the Bushies are telling us now are much more important stuff. Currently in full cover-up, deflection spin mode trying to blame it on the CIA when it went much farther than that. Cheney, Rumsfield, Wolfowitz and Rice are particularly vulnerable now.
