No - I wasn't booting from the drive, merely had it installed for transferring some files. It's one of those 256K Jump drives. Apparently, I had forgotten that I still had it in the USB port when I did a system restore. In any event, the next time I went to do a system restore, all the checkpoints were gone. I'm not sure of all this but I can't think of any other explanation for the disappearing checkpoints for system restore. It appears that Win attempts to find space on each drive to set up a checkpoint and if there is not enough space it wipes out all checkpoints on all drives. I may wrong about this and I did see some reference in the MSFT knowledgebase but it was a bit above me. So - if anyone can tell me if this is correct or not, I'd appreciate it and, if correct, is there a way to permanently prevent system restore from monitoring this portable drive without turning it off in general. I know I can do it each time I plug it in but I tend to do this on the fly and forget that type of thing. Age you know comes wisdom I suppose and I'm waiting for some to come my way. Thanks again.

Zone Alarm question - I know many on this thread use ZA. I recently downloaded the latest version and have been noticing problems seeing pages on pages like CNET, Reuters, NY Times. I assume it's because they all are doing more stuff trying to make sure you see their ads. My question is whether there is an easy way to get ZA to let these pages through w/o jeopardizing my system. I've tried entering "cnet.com" in the privacy section, which worked in the past, but now seems to be a bit more problematic. Again thanks to all you computer gurus that inhabit this thread.
