I remember posting to UW when the liberation started that I wish we had a couple more brigades of MPs on hand.

I remember thinking too bad Clinton deactivated them.
We had plenty of MPs too start off with...They got bogged down very quickly with zillions of POWs. Recently, more MP reserve units have been activated (as planned) and sent to Iraq.

"Moreover, the forces were not always well-equipped for the mission. The Americans' M1A1 tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles were fine for seizing the city and maintaining checkpoints. But they were too big to maneuver through the clogged streets of Baghdad. Tank crews were lacking the body armor they needed to conduct dismounted patrols. Eventually, additional Humvees and military police officers were deployed, but that process took weeks.
"

IMO those statements are pathetically ignorant of modern combat tactics and battlefield strategies. I believe those statements completely discredit Gordon and his NYT Editors as military analysts.
