Hi Pearly,
This is a little different though. Europe and Japan You're quite correct. There is a lot more leverage there than we Canuckies have in the one way free trade agreement..

Treaty of Versailles in 1919 :o)
I'm fond of that one when looking at the current mideast situation... It's easy enough to trace many of the root problems.

regards
Kastel

and many Canadians here are not happy with the dispute.

Just to be sure
There are plenty of us down here in the states that side with our northern neighbors.
And now, again, with this steel deal
from what I gather on the surface of it all
it is doing nothing more than protecting an overweight, inefficient industry.
And most likely, as in the case of the softwood jive,
ultimately lines the pockets of an elite few while the real ass bustin' workers only catch the heat of the dispute.

Now personally, I'd love to see something like a 5000% tariff slapped on a lot of this cheap, worthless junk comes over from China, who BTW, should never have been permitted into the WTO anyhow.
But than again, it's a monster created out of our own wants and desires.
So there, I have not a leg upon which to stand.

One final thought, since I've grabbed the soap box here for the moment, and not quite sure if it's even worth the space I've taken up anyhow, it sure seems like the good ole U.S. of A.- or at least those in the seat of power is pissing off our share of allies. Err rather pissing off the roof wearing a smile while offering down umbrellas as we try to convince the masses it is only raining.

P.S> I need some cheap lumber to build
An ark!
