You're talking about Vietnam atrocities. Okay yeah. I wasn't aware of that speech but as you might remember, and as you can see in the movie PLATOON, it was a big problem. And it was getting covered up. Until Calley's trial at least.

SEAL hero ex-Senator Bob Kerrey admitted to taking part in such an atrocity. No doubt it was not uncommon. And if Kerry spoke out against it, good for him. Also remember, Kerry probably saw it happening first-hand in the bush, and may have even been tempted to kill civilians himself, out of rage, fear and frustration that was infected all our combat units in those days.

Maybe Kerry's statement helped cleanse our military. That kind of thing rarely happens anymore. Maybe he played a part in this clean-up instead of a cover-up. That's real reform. Not the GW Bush kind of "reform" which means giveaways of public wealth to private corporate interests.
