Pulling down the statue was a dangerous thing. Bounce, roll, who knows. Plus I've seen cables snap and knock holes in a car. There also might have been Baathists around taking names.

I watched the whole thing, live, flipping stations. The people were standing outside the square, waiting. After the statue came down they poured into the square and started jumping on the face and hitting it with their shoes.

I think a lot of people on SI watched it - someone on FADG told us what was happening and a bunch of us watched and commented afterwards.

Not exactly possible to misrepresent something you're watching on live TV.
