Don't tell anyone but I'm on PCS and the prices at the PX are pretty lousy. I purchase very little at the PX and when I do go in it's pretty empty. One or two registers and no lines. And the selection is lousy. Did it occur to you that the electronics that are produced in Asia or Germany aren't subject to the price flucations in the dollar. What % of items in the PX are produced in the US. Helloooooo. The PX is not immune to price fluctuations in the dollar.

If you want to limit your eating out to the Strike Zone and the O-Club that's fine that also helps absorb the $ fluctuations. Last time I had dinner at the O-Club it was Chinese night, I was fortunate to be sharing the table with the head of the O-Club and told her the Chinese food was the worst food I ever ate in my life....she agreed.

Let's throw in the commissary while we're at it...there's lots of stuff from the States that come in to the commissary, but there's a lot of stuff that's shipped in from Germany...I assume it's Germany since all the text is in German and then there is the produce...which is generally locally produced and of inferior quality to the produce that's offered in the local economy. Both of those are subject to fluctuations in the US$.

Fresh seafood...hah...I spent an entire day of my personal time going to every office on base trying to get a place for a local fishmonger to set up on base to sell fresh seafood...even for a trial test [amall quality of life issue]. I found the spot where he could park. The head of the commisary agreed because he wouldn't be competing with commisary; the head of the O-Club agreed, since it was raw seafood, he wasn't competing with the O-Club or the Strike Zone; I went to the JAG; he had no problem with it. Possibility came up that there were health inspection issues, but the JAG agreed that it wasn't a problem for the local vendors when they came on base for 4th Jul events. All that was needed was one office to agree to sponsor the fishmonger to get on the base....4 weeks later I was told it wasn't possible but they didn't know why.

Thanks for your suggestion,
