Thomas, out here in the great state of Washington, we have had Democratic Governors for the past 20 years. The voters here recognize that Democrats have the intelligence and vision to lead. No Republican candidate for President has carried the State of Washington since 1984.

And the perception is that the dem party is made up of the scum of the earth. the dems are the traitrorcrats.

I can understand why conservatives might think that. I can even support it mathematically! I'll let you do the number crunching but the proof is arrived at by looking at polling data....Look at what percentage of Republicans support the war in Iraq, then the number of Democrats and then the number of Independents....with me so far?

The look at the polling data that shows that 50% of Americans believe that Iraq was directly behind 9/11. It's straightforward to calculate the distribution of that group over Republicans, Democrats and Independents...with me so far?

And what you come up with that the number of people that believe that Iraq was directly involved in 9/11 are Republicans. Q.E.D.

So it's not hard to believe that this group [Republicans] have other distorted views of reality completely unsupportable. In fact, you would expect it.
