Kerry is Forbes on Mother's side. Here's their genealogy website, proving some of them are from Ireland. genforum.genealogy.com

As for pot-smoking, John, GW and most guys their age toked up prior to 1974, but John became a serious political mover/shaker and went to law school while GW remained a slacker party boy during those years. GW refused to take the Air Guard drug test in 1972. GW has only admitted he has taken drugs since 1974. That includes cocaine.

Kerry has never advocating legalizing pot but putting people in jail for it, probably would not support that as much as the Bush's, whose daughters and nieces have substance abuse problems, but who would clog up our prisons with people caught with pot. A recent study showed pot does not cause any brain damage. Too much of it is bad, but some of it is not that hrmful and in some cases even helpful to people with certain conditions, including glaucoma, insomnia and certain types of stress conditions.
