It's an interesting contrast on how Bush and Blair are handling this....the Bush Administration is leveling some blame [responsibility] towards the British, Tenet, the CIA, the intelligence community, everyone that reviewed the State of the Union, and even a tiny hint at the speech writers....I've never seen an Administration mention the names of it's speech writers for the State of the Union. The Blair administration is leveling responsibility at....nobody...originally, there was a bit directed towards the folks that approved the report, but they also continue to back the report.

One procedural difference between the US and UK government...every Wednesday, the Prime Minister has to stand before the House of Commons and take questions from the floor. No softball questions from the opposition party. They are brutal and it's every Wednesday. As one Brit put it to me....we think the PM is responsible and needs to be held accountable, one aspect of that accountability is explaining what he did and why....once a week. Certainly 1 hour per week isn't too much to ask.

The Constitution requires the Pres to report periodically to Congress, once a week isn't required, but he could volunteer to appear once a week before the Senate and field questions from the floor.....he can start every one with the phrase...."Bring them on." I think Bush would do well.
