Going to Liberia to show he has empathy and does care about that region, and get African American votes! It is preparing for the eventual, or what will be forthcoming. By showing comparison of the living standards in those third world countries versus ours, it will be a show-n-tell how fortunate and well off we Americans are. The general US population is so far above the rest of the world (i.e. Afghanistan, Iraq, and Liberia). For sure, we can take one or two steps down and our living condition is still much better off.
