As I recall, we redistrict every ten years. The problem is that the last redistricting was done by a judge, and he ordered the legislature to revisit his map during the last session. Unfortunately, the Dems couldn't take defeat with honor, and ran away to Ardmore (whilst still accepting pay from the state for the work they were supposed to be doing in Austin).
