<<<The US is a Democracy in a Republic. Considering we have only had 227 years, we are doing very well as a society. So well in fact, that most of the rest of the world think they can call on us to do their work in the world.
And kick us in the seat of the pants while we do it. >>>
It would be fairly easy , and fun, to make a list of the ideas, people and events that produced America of today Some would not consider it the "best"life, for both parents to have to work at steady boring jobs just to stay even.
But we judge it to be far better in comparison to the degradation and tortures seen in backward nations.
The problem , or the heavy work, would be to see how events or people that shaped our society could apply to a country like Africa, It would make our efforts in Iraq look like childs play.
Should find a man with a vision of what Africa could become, That wasn't De Beers, who was out to rob, and its certainly not Jesse Jackson . One problem is that the African tribes( witch doctors) . tended to kill off anyone who was different, smarter, and thus threatening to the established order ( kind of like Saddam). Africans did not have the opportunity to leave for another home or country as many Europeans did when oppressed.
New leaders tend to show up in times of stress, but tend to be the warring kind. Wrong visions.
Wars have had a significant effect here, after the Civil War, bringing people to work on common goals, as did many programs, the REA, CCC, the Federal Highways, dam building, moon race. etc
It might help Africa (I am sure it would) to have some country threaten to take over the entire continent and destroy all blacks. ( I got that from some Muslim beliefs) They would finally have to get their act together and think outside the tribe, cooperate intead of decimate.
.But talk is no good, it was useless in stopping WW1, WW2, Iraq 1, Iraq2, or the Pal/Isr problems today.
Some action would be needed, some fighting, a Martian invasion..Perhaps a Nigerian will assassinate Arafat, that should trigger a response. And other countries should not step in too soon to help. They have to think it out for themselves.
Altogether I am saying its tough to be of help, other than a few stop-gap measures, and .unplanned events may occur that will change the future for the Africans.
Incidently, I doubt if OBL was as much of a religious man as he claimed. Praying most of the day? BS, he was on the wireless most of the time recruiting, directing, collecting money, buying arms, planning atrocious acts, shorting airline stocks..
Shopping for (six )? wives, was it?
