George "Grey Davis" Bush White House's Record Deficits
By Adam Entous

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House is expected on Tuesday to project record-breaking budget deficits this year and next in excess of $400 billion, an amount Democrats and some fiscal conservatives said approached crisis proportions.

White House officials said the bigger deficits were "manageable" in size and reflected the nation's economic and national security needs following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and the wars in Afghanistan (news - web sites) and Iraq (news - web sites).

Democrats blamed President Bush (news - web sites)'s sweeping tax cuts and said budget deficits were approaching crisis levels not seen since the Reagan administration.

"As bad as the budget is going to appear, it's actually worse," said South Carolina Rep. John Spratt (news, bio, voting record), the top Democrat on the House of Representatives Budget Committee.

White House officials declined to comment on the new Office of Management and Budget projections, which congressional aides expected to show a fiscal 2003 deficit of between $410 billion and $425 billion with a similar gap in 2004

* Can you say a trillion+ deficits by next year after starting with a 200 billion surplus? And they call Grey Davis incompetent. Recall Bush too. Or else a double standard.

Re: btu /power output gasoline/ethanol goto afdc.doe.gov

It shows power output of ethanol is 70% of gasoline or a ratio of 1.42/1
Indy cars are super high compression to obtain high horsepower and get a few miles to the gallon of ethanol. Ethanol is used in Indy cars for its safety feature, less explosive, after too many terrible burn accidents and deaths. Ethanol is basically alcohol and if you ever used an alcohol burner in chem you will remember it has nowhere near the heat factor of gasoline type burners. Also see reply 426991 for further info on ethanol boondoggle.

Thanks Ken
