Indeed: "highly esteemed...for its significance ranking system, which is so uncannily effective that many users consider it to have rendered other search engines effectively irrelevant." Something else that's happening in the field: Often, site designers/programmers are asked by clients, "How can we improve our search rankings". Google has tweaked their system to filter out common methods of "gaming" the system. So now, that question is frequently answered, "Buy a Google ad." The thought of any other "Yet Another Internet Stock" is about as exciting as an Edsel on blocks. But if Google actually did IPO…
