Anything for the vote at the next election. 80% of the agricultural subsidies touted as help for the 'family' farmers goes to the top 20% of the farm producers. Multimillion dollar conglomerates or multimillionair farmers. Little gets down to the 'family farmer', whom is basically extinct. As an example, several years ago, when the milk slush payoff was found to be concentrated within a few huge milk producers, Congress, in its infinite wisdom, set a maximum pay off per farm entity at 1 million dollars. Not bad, eh? Taking care of our dollars, aren't they. One, among many, intrepid famer in California solved this potential loss of million of dollars by splitting his family farm into 5 separate farms and placed his sons and their wives as owners, he,the father, keeping major control.Washington, DC, cannot read , and are functionally illiterate. Shame on those politicians who have created these monsters, not the kids, the systems.
