It was never part of the Neocon program to promote democracy through combat. Other factors have to be in play, making war seem a better alternative, for example, danger to US interests, or the imminence of genocide. However, if one is in a position to have a central role in determining a country's future, than setting it on track for democratization is a worthy goal.

Anyway, if you cannot see that there is no point in holding elections unless there is a degree of stability, so that things will not quickly fall into anarchy, cannot see that the introduction of democracy is meaningless if one election can abrogate democracy, you are blind. Blather on about trusting the masses, but we are responsible for leaving a viable country behind, and will be accountable for a situation that swiftly deteriorates.
