TOKYO--Amazon.com said Tuesday that it expects fast-growing international sales to match U.S. sales by 2005, while the Internet retailer of books and DVDs tries to bridge the profitability gap between the two segments.
Amazon's international sales are growing faster than North American sales are, and now comprise 32 percent of the total. Sales outside North America rose 68 percent in the January-to-March period, compared with the same period a year earlier.
