The military wont allow soldiers to be polled in Iraq. I have been watching TV coverage of interviews with troops and though they're trying to stick to the mission, it gets increasingly hard and demoralizing, especially when it's 120 degrees in the shade (wearing body armor), you cant speak the language, you dont know who's friend or foe, you could get killed at any moment and you dont even know what the mission endgame is. Plus you literally have to be an Iraqi cop. Those troops need and deserve a break. But due to pisspoor planning, how can we do it now? WOuld have to bring in the UN. India just turned us down because Iraq isn't under UN jurisdiction. Bushies and our troops are paying a heavy price now for the hardline unilateralist doctrine. According to Koffi-Anan, Bushies haven't even requested UN help yet. No excuse for that.
