How come you don't write about McCarthy's third aide? The one who made McCarthy his daughter's godfather? I never said that McCarthy was a nice man. In fact, he probably got what he deserved. But the fact is, that there were Soviet spies in the U.S. State Department. Are you arguing that because, Joe McCarthy was a nasty man, that it was O.K. to spy for the Soviet Union? Do you think that it is o.k. to give American State and military secrets to a regime that killed as many (and probably more) people than Hitler? The fact is, that there were Americans who spied for the Soviet Union, and some held high positions within the United States Government.
