Well, if Oracle doesn't get peoplesoft then they will lose the apps business entirely. Oracle will become a distant 3rd or 4th player, behind SAP, psft, and sebl. CRM is the only real growth area left in apps and Oracle can never recover from their awful 11i product released last year (known as "the 5000-patch release"). I'm sure Larry sees the world this way because executives at Cisco and Sun have made it clear that unless Ora apps shape up, they are out.
