Saddam was not a threat even to the Kurds. He was little more than a paper tiger even in 1990/91. And this time around, after a dozen years of sanctions, he was thoroughly defanged and decrepit.

The worst part is the civilians who were shredded by "precision". There's several very bad consequences of the lies but I can't imagine any worse than the needless slaughter. The "reasons" for the killing are baseless. Lying to justify the killing, lying before the fact, amounts to 1st degree murder.
