I have a homophone problem :-)
I ALWAYS choose the wrong ones- and then I have to edit. You would not believe some of the homophones I come up with. It's funny, but a lot of people have that problem. I was talking to another teacher I work with, and I was telling her how much fun my students and I have with my tendency to choose the wrong homophone, and she said "My daughter does that, do you mean she isn't just careless?"

I think it's simply a different way of thinking about words. I think some people file words based on visual appearance, some file based on meaning, some people like me file based on sound- and I'm sure our brains allow other storage techniques as well.

But I do know how to spell rote. :-) reely
