New problem today that may or may not have been related to the updates. In Internet Explorer when I clicked Tools > Internet Options I got a message "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". Fortunately my 1st attempt at solving the problem worked. I changed the registry key value of hkey_current_user/software/policies/microsoft/internet explorer/restrictions from 1 to zero. I knew about the key because in Windows 98 it was one of the tricks I used on kid's PCs to keep them from screwing things up. In XP there are simpler ways to keep kids out of trouble.
