Some long-term speculations LOL! But not completely irrelevant, if you think today's actions are influenced by whether or not the future of the human race will be growth or annihilation. Bill Joy's "The Future Doesn't Need Us" says we have only a decade or two to avoid wiping ourselves out with a broad-scale Plague. To do that requires we clear out murderous thugs inhabiting secret caves in places like Washington DC, who are happily plotting all kinds of such scenarios. Full disclosure, gov't transparency, and sunlight on such cockroaches is the only cure for impending doom. After that, we can get back to the business of developing centuries' worth of additional real estate. That's a lot more fun than the apocalyptic visions of Malthus-iasts who figure we have to reduce population to about a billion or two through various means.
