The UN inspectors did their job. That is why no WMD have been found in Iraq. France did not believe there was any threat and France did not think invasion was needed -- they supported the inspections process. Russia flatly rejected US allegations about WMD and supported the inspection process. Germany did not believe the threat rose to the level where invasion could be justified and supported the inspection process. China thought we had lost our minds, and then realized that the US is indeed motivated by an appetite for resources that has historically driven most colonial powers to "liberate" heathens in far away places -- the way Japan claimed to have "liberated" Korea and China in the second world war. As an aside, Japan says it invaded neighboring countries in "self-defense" during the second world war. We took it upon ourselves to be judge and jury and treated our former allies with contempt for asking questions. Now it turns out that they were entirely correct in their assessment. Being wrong is unfortunate -- being a loud-mouthed, lying and arrogant bully that is contemptuous of the opinion of the rest of the world is not helpful in a world where our security requires international cooperation.
