Perhaps, Frank...but I don't think so. The Iraqi's are quite smart, from everything I can find...and have been downtrodden by a tyrant and his thugs for more than 20 years....

BUT, we have seen Saddam's palaces in Baghdad...I don't think we have seen many regular houses in most of the rest of the country. On BBC, Singapore Straits newspaper, or most any other source.

I wonder if National Geographic has issues with pictures of all villages and towns in Iraq...(before Saddam)...We do see plenty of Baghdad.

Here are a couple of places:

nationalgeographic.com

nationalgeographic.com

Also: interesting to see: Google and insert: Iraq under Images

What is very interesting to me, is to see that California and Iraq are nearly the same size, and approximately the same population....I believe Iraq has 6 million more than California.

There are literally thousands of towns in California, and relatively few in Iraq. And really only one huge one...Baghdad.

Iraq is centuries old. Why wouldn't there be more cities and towns? We can't just say Iraq was desert and sand. Isreal has tamed part of the desert....and I believe Iraq has millions of dollars more oil to sell than has Isreal.

PS...Perhaps when I get to a Library, I can see if there are any NG's with pictures of Iraq towns in the 1950's and before....Will reference them if I can find them.
