Not just a simple letter. More like a chapter. that obvious, eh? this IS a chapter and day three had a couple of things in it that tie in to the total experience. i didn't know that on day three. i'm wondering if i should have written the letter without giving the appearance that there might be a tie in to future events? or if it's ok as written?... maybe it's good that the reader picks up the feeling that there's more to this story? i dunno. i'm not a very good story teller. i just write letters. it's going pretty slowly. i don't expect to finish all 12 letters until fall because in the meantime, i have a job, a family, communications with friends, posting on SI and two sailing boards, a presidential campaign, actual sailing on the water, and living in the present moment to do as well. (that last one is my favorite and it makes it hard to write about the past -- being a student is much more fun than being a teacher -- but there ARE obligations and responsibilities one has to life, and sharing experiences is one of them. you do it so well... and so do the rest of the people on this thread.) my life has been fuller and richer because of it. thank you all. (i can hardly wait to go to korea via coach19's letters) re: the "care to help" website i didn't have any problem viewing it like you did BUT... that's good info. personally, i hate frames (for several reasons). one of the reasons is the one you mentioned. scott might do well to ask his web designer to eliminate the frames design. there isn't a good enough reason to be using frames on this site - the header that has the navigation links on it doesn't need to be in a separate frame - it could be built into every page and would remain in the same position without any extra loading time just like the header on this SI page. of course the reader has to scroll back up to the top to use the navigation links but those links could also be placed at the bottom of the page like many web page designers do - at least that would eliminate the problem of having something that the reader can't get to - that's a frustrating experience. -letterman
