How familiar are you with the french election system, both presidential and congressional,
and the french party structure??

As well as how a government-administration is formed and how that works in France??

Especially in how they differ from what is the case in USA??

And how that basic knowledge is needed to understand anything of french elections
and election results.

I don't know what they are talking about. Green Party is very main stream. Calling it "Communist-allied" is very strange indeed. Reminds me of the Hollywood communist witch hunts you guys had at one point.

From the tone of that paragraph you are quoting, not to mention the content, it does not sound like www.realpolitik.us is a very respectable source of information or insight.

For your info, Le Pen got the votes he did last year (knocking off the left candidate in the process - so much for this "so many French voting for communists" view) because of a backlash to immigration, especially from North Africa to the South of France. It is no secret that Le Pen got most of his votes around here, in the Alpes-Maritimes region, from Marseille to Menton. It was not racism. It was a reaction to immigrants coming to France, never really having to work or anything, the state giving them apartments, money to live, and them being responsible for most petty crime.

In the second round of the presidential elections, all of France was mobilized against Le Pen, and Chirac was reelected with about 80% of votes. Again, so much for your source's "racism" accusations to the French...
