Hi Neocon; Re: "That is how it happened in Japan and Germany. Worked pretty well."

We defeated Japan and Germany with wars lasting most of a decade that killed millions. The survivors weren't in the mood to continue the fight. By contrast, the Iraqis were hardly bloodied in the conquest and are still spoiling for a fight. Furthermore, with the war converted to a guerilla conflict, our high tech advantages are almost useless.

I told you guys, well before the war, that our problem in Iraq would be the civilians. Now I open my newspaper and see pictures of gleeful Iraqi civilians showing off pictures of Saddam Hussein in front of a burning US military vehicle.

So do you think that sort of thing happened in Germany or Japan? No way. Nor have the Israelis been able to make the Palestinians democratic despite a 50 year occupation.
