Nixon resigned because the Republican leadership assured him he would be impeached on a vote in the House....the evidence against Nixon was quite damning....in this case....the facts show that Bush's statement was accurate and British intelligence stands behind the claim to this date.... also important, Tenet revealed yesterday that the documents discrediting the portion of the intelligence estimate dealing with Niger were not received by CIA until AFTER the SOTU..... In other words, the CIA was unable to INDEPENDENTLY verify the British intelligence estimate....but that does not make it false nor render Mr. Bush's statement innacurate...
