Yes, two-party systems, when the two parties unite, make it very easy to manipulate
the population. (also possible when they "fight" to keep up the "circus" while
some third parties always can be trusted to grab the possibility)

As in the case of UK, also good to avoid any "influence from the colonies" but
all the more in the other direction.

One issue is as basic as debate in the parliamant if it consists of only these
two parties, or if there "third parties" who maybe sees an opportunity to
point out what the two parties are doing. Note that this also gets coverage
by the media.
