Hi Dabum - I think the major brokerage survey was based on Charles Schwab data. One of the results from a University of California study was that about 3-5% of retail investros make 25% or better average returns per year.

I beleive this data comes from the ealry 1990s, when the S&P was up 5-10%, and not from the late 1990 boom years.
