I just watched a rerun of Blair's speech to Congress on CSPAN. I had read it, but his presentation was just magnificent. You can understand why he has been able to hold his position in Briton in the face of a majority against it. No one can stand up to him. If he goes down, it will be a sadder day for England than for him.

>War is nasty business. To win requires beating an opponent to death or into total submission. We had them on an open battlefield, refused to defeat them, and let them retreat to the cities.<

I found it curious that war, particularly in Afghanistan, resembled our professional sports leagues, complete with free agents, player trades, signing bonuses and such. Someone blows a whistle, the first half ends, everyone gets released and rearmed in time for the second half kick-off.

uw....do you think it is the Pentagon, or the State Department, or the Adm, or just what is going on in Iraq....

Will the new General be able to hold sway over the situation do you think?

Is there any chance do you think that maybe it will be time for a return of the "bunker busters" to Saddam's part of Iraq?
